Jannik Sinner advanced into the quarter-finals of Wimbledon 2025 after a cliff-hanger Round of 16 match against Grigor Dimitrov, who retired injured with a two-set lead. The agonizing moment came with the score at 2-2 in the third set, when the 34-year-old Bulgarian was on the brink of producing a massive upset against the top seed.
Dimitrov had shocked Centre Court with a commanding 6-3, 7-5 lead, leaving the onus firmly on the world No.1 champion. But then suddenly a injury brought the match to a dramatic standstill, with Dimitrov in clear distress and in tears as he pulled out of the tournament, losing what would have been his first Wimbledon quarter-final in years.
